Course Description:
In counseling sessions, clients often present dreams as material to use in making meaning of their experiences. This course provides a brief review of historical perspectives on dreams and dream interpretation and provides a foundation for examining dreams as an integral part of counseling practice.
Course Objective:
Upon completing this program, participants should be able to:
  • Describe the use of dreams in psychotherapy; and
  • Help clients explore the meaning of their dreams by integrating Developmental Counseling and Therapy (DCT) into the therapy session.

John F. Marszalek III, PhD, LPC, NCC, is an assistant professor in the counseling programs at Xavier University of Louisiana. Jane Myers, PhD, LPC, NCC, is a professor in the Department of Counseling and Educational Development at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
